We are excited to share with you that participants, friends, families, teams, and sponsors supporting our Evergreen Chapter Walk to Defeat ALS™ events have raised a total of $358,700 so far! THANK YOU for all your hard work and participation.
As you know, the need for patient services programs for those stricken with ALS is ever present, with the average cost of caring for a loved one reaching $250,000 per year. This figure holds true through varying economic markets and families living with Lou Gehrig’s Disease face the same economic hardships as the general population. Dollars raised through the Walk program help offset these costs by funding patient service programs available to families in our communities.
|
Because of these costs, we are launching our "Walk the Extra Mile" campaign until January 31st, 2009.
This year, 2352 walkers participated in the Evergreen Chapter Walk to Defeat ALS™ events. If we all make or collect one $25 dollar contribution, we will raise as additional $58,800 for patient care! Wouldn't this be outstanding to help achieve our goal of over $400,000 to support our region? An easy way to collect this contribution is to send a "Walk the Extra Mile" Letter/email 2008 to your contacts.

Matching Gifts are another great way to “Walk to Extra Mile” and double the impact of your contribution. Please contact the Chapter office if you would like more information about matching gifts or visit www.matchinggifts.com/als to search for participating employers.
As a reminder, it is also important for all participants to collect on our pending pledges of $15,355 so please mail in your checks to be counted. All contributions can be made directly online by selecting your walk location or sent to the Chapter office at 19110 66th Ave. S, Suite G-101, Kent, WA 98032. Please visit our website often to view the ever-rising 2008 Walk fundraising thermometer and track our progress. The deadline to submit contributions for the “Walk the Extra Mile” effort is January 31st, 2009.
So our challenge is on! Will you "Walk the Extra Mile" to help us reach our goal of $492,000?
Thank you so much for making this "extra" effort,
